Like many of us, I have a fading SC5000 led screen. I may have to replace my 2006 unit with the newer vessel view 4. I know I will have to use some starboard as the cut out is different, but wanted to know if anyone has done this.
Questions that are important to me:
1-since the vesselview4 is meant for 2007 and newer verado's, will the unit receive ALL of the information that my sc5000 receives or will some information be lost in translation (Mercury could not answer this question to my satisfaction)
2-most say I need a new wiring harness. How difficult is it to connect other peripherals to this?
3-is this an owner installable job, or do I need a mechanic?
Thanks. (Ps: this would be a no brainier if someone out there had a good used SC5000 screen they no longer needed--I could not find any on eBay)
