I just purchased a 2008 Montauk 190 with a Black Ameritex Bimini. It has a few pinholes, and I want to replace it with a Captain Blue Bimini and Boot.

Was there any difference in the actual stainless Bimini Frame between Ameritex and Great Lakes Canvas - and is canvas interchangeable between the two Frames? Is the hardware on the boat the same for both brands? Can the pins be replaced in the canopy hardware mounted on the boat without replacing the entire stainless mount?

Finally, I want to change the stripe and logo from Red to Blue - what are the best practices to remove the old one and replace the new ones so they are straight and in the same position?

Thanks, Cynthia

The name Ameritex is not familiar. I presume it is the new canvas supplier?

I would expect the bimini parts to be identical so they would, "in theory" be interchangeable BUT I would not make that assumption. You can check with Boston Whaler Customer Service.

For the vinyl, it can be removed with a hairdryer and a plastic putty knife. I would mark the corner/locations with a grease pencil.

If you can't get the OEM decals from a dealer, contact Magic Brush, the OEM supplier of decals. http://www.magicbrushsign.com/marine/om/marine/

If you logo is like mine it uses raised vinyl lettering and symbol. You'll want to get that from a Boston Whaler dealer or other trusted OEM source.

For the exact placement of the new logo I would take a couple of close up photos with a tape showing exact measurements from the rub rail and the transom both port and starboard before removing the originals. If you have the skills to make templates those would be useful.
