Well , I am not new to boating , but I am new to the 2001 13 Sport .No boarding platform like my 2007 Parker or 1990 20 foot Hydrasports , and the dealer says to forget it . The dealer contacted whaler and they told him the hull in that year is not designed for bolting or securing a platform ??? Wow , how do we get back on the boat . We are too old to use a side ladder . Help Please . I will cut access to the rear hull if need be .

Call Boston Whaler Customer Service yourself and ask : 877-294-5645

There are swim steps and there are platforms.

For a good vendor that tailors to Boston Whaler, consider Martin Marine Design.

Contact Ray directly to verify the fit for your model year.

Joseph,

Your profile says you have a 2000 Sport 13 but in this thread you say it is a 2001 Sport 13

Might make a difference as the max HP is also different between those 2 model years.

We put the 2000/2001Sport 13 in newer section as they have the newer style hull but the older name.

You are correct , the man who sold it to me said it was a 2000 , but I found out it is a 2001
Whaler tech man sent me a whaler drawing of the plywood in the transom and it does not cover the whole transom , so far I am less than impressed with the difficulty of mounting a silly ole boarding platform .Any simple help on this would be great but it looks like I gotta do it the hard way .Joe

The Sport 13 is really a small boat to mount a boarding platform. There is just too little space along side the engine.

If you are too old to use a modern boarding ladder hung over the gunnel of a 13 Sport you're too old to climb aboard using the two (or maximum three) step ladder attached to a boarding platform. A good over-the-side boarding ladder will have a least four steps. It's much easier to board using a an over-the-side ladder than a boarding platform with steps.

The problem with a boarding ladder is that you have to carry it around with you and the space on a 13 is so limited.

I'm 76 and can board our 1981 Sport 13 from the water without a ladder or boarding platform. I do use the engine lower unit to give me a boost up. Not easy, I admit, but nonetheless doable.

Well I am 60 years old , and the wife is 57 . We have boated in Tampa for 30 years .I will take your advice on the boarding as you outlined . Spoke to Whaler again and I am feeling there is not a safe way to do a normal boarding platform on a 2001 13' sport .I am just used to getting back on with a platform . Thanks for the good advice ! Joe

(corrected name to 13' Sport so none of us get confused)
