I am considering Gig Harbor WA as a possible retirement home.

Would appreciate any thoughts on boating around there in a 13 foot (I have a 1991 Super Sport Limited).

Any recommendations on launching (and parking ) around there also welcome.

The South Sound area is a wonderful place to boat. There are many islands, inlets and bays to explore. There is fishing, crabbing and shrimping too.

A great place to be in the summer. Unfortunately, a short season in Washington.

There are enough public ramps down there. There is one right in Gig Harbor. Most of them have two things in common.
1) They are best at higher tides
2) Parking is limited

A 13'er can handle the area - just watch the currents and wind thru the Narrows to the south of Gig Harbor.

Water Water everywhere !

Thanks, I think the irony is that with possibly one exception (the ramp off Goodman) other Gig Harbor ramps essentially support one car or truck and have to be cleared after launching. So the boat has to be manned while the tow truck is driven off by another since there don't appear to be places to moor the boat.

I am hoping someone will shed additional light on this....
