Coordinating New Gauges with Mercury Flagship

New 2015 150 Super Sport. Has one gauge, the Tach. Would like to add GPS Speedometer.
Can you tell me who makes the Mercury Gauge, so I can choose one that coordinates well?
If Mercury makes them, can you tell me your opinion of any other brand of GPS speedometer that will look good next to the Mercury Tachometer?
Boat tops out at ... probably 35 MPH, btw. Everything is white ... on that boat.

GPS speed is usually measured and displayed by the GPS/Plotter.
A speedometer gauge typically receives measured speed via a pitot tube in the engine or via an external paddle wheel mounted on the transom.
The Mercury 60hp Bigfoot supports a limited number of gauge measurements.
As is typical, the Mercury Marine website is worthless in showing the supported gauge features. A visit to a dealer is warranted.

I believe that Mercury GPS Speedometer even if you could make it work would be kind of pricey for the only function it offers. On my Dauntless, I installed a Lowrance Elite 5 color GPS/Sonar unit that is made for the small boats as it is compact with a 4 inch display. This will give you speed, depth, bottom contour, fish finding capabilities as well as a mapping gps which will come in handy for navigating new lakes as it even has a listing of every fuel stop and most marinas and restaurants on any given lake. The color unit like I have is usually around $299 but can be found on sale and the black and white unit is $199 or less.

What exactly is a "Mercury GPS speedometer"? I did a search and did not find anything.
Jim is discussing speed via a Lowrance GPS/Sounder unit.
Mercury does not make a GPS/Sounders.

Phil,
I believe ClevlandBill was referring to a speedometer that Mercury offers and is mostly used on go fast boats that measures speed by GPS. My comments were that a GPS or GPS/Sonar unit will also provide him the GPS speed accuracy he wants and offer many other features as well for probably less money.

The GPS Speedo is not actually from Mercury Marine but from Gaffrig Performance, Livorsi Marine also has these.
Thought to share...

Boy, i can see now I really messed up my question ...
I want a gps speedo, Mercury either doesn't make one or has no clue how to sell me one (because their website is less than useful), but if I get one from another manufacturer, I'd like it to look nice sitting next to the Mercury Flagship series tach that is standard in recent Super Sports.
I think I got it that time. Sorry for the terribly unclear o/p.

I have a 2016 SS150 also. Before ordering my boat I did a good amount of research on the same issues you dealing with. After talking to a very well respected merc house in MN I decided on a Sc1000 gauge set up. I only had the RPM gauge installed along w/merc gateway. This gives me all the vitals of the engine in one unit. Very very happy with it. To get around the speed I installed a hummingbird helix 5 unit. This gives me speed,direction, maps etc. i love my SS for the simplicity but it also bugs me too! The sc1000 is a awesome tool.

Maybe I can answer the question.
Mercury domed Flagship series gauges are made by Sea Star Solutions (previously Teleflex). Their
Premier Pro line of domed gauges are almost identical, very close, and is what I would recommend. They have the red background lighting like the Flagship has. They make a GPS speedometer in this line, which you can find though a Google search.

On my 25 Outrage, I have mixed the two lines, and it is hard to tell one from the other.
As an alternative, you might consider the conventional Mercury Flagship speedometer, with pressure tubing connected to the engine lower unit. These are highly accurate, as the Mercury engine water pickup is very efficient. If using the conventional speedometer, you must use the Flagship gauge, however, since the generic speedometers made by Teleflex will show a speed that is too high, once again, because of the efficiency of the Merc water pickup. The Flagship speedometer gauge is specially calibrated for only Merc engines with gearcase pickup.

Finnegan: that's the answer. Looked them over and you are correct. Great company, too. I emailed at about a quarter after six my time on a Friday, which would be after hours for them ... and got an email response. I asked what would happen if I installed a 35 MPH speedo and then got the theoretical 36MPH top speed out of my boat. He said, there's a little headroom but that if it failed, he'd take care of me, being the service manager! Fantastic!!! I wish all companies were like that!
