Seek a remote cover for my 1987 Boston Whaler, Montauk 17, powered by a Johnson 90. Can't seem to locate this part. Can anyone help point me in the right direction? Appreciate it.

Please describe "Remote Cover'.
Is this for the boat or the motor?

it is the cover (black) that surrounds the throttle which is powered by a Johnson 90. Mine is cracked in several places. I am not sure how to answer your question, other than to say it must be to the Johnson motor OMC 0124885. Appreciate the prompt reply.

OK.
The cover on the "Remote Controls" for the motor.

Have you checked with an Evinrude dealer?
Also see the Evinrude/Johnson parts catalogs here:

Thanks Joe. Yes, I have checked everywhere (both Evinrude's and Johnson's) sites. I keep getting a response that it is obsolete, not carried anymore. So I have to find one that perhaps is salvaged from an existing Montauk 17.

You shouldn't have a hard time finding a used omc part, several placed around me have hoarded up old omc parts for years. If you can't find what your looking for, let me know I check a local place by me and see what they would charge to ship that part to your location.

Thanks again Joe. Appreciate it. Believe it or not all the OMC sites I have visited and called do not have the part. They tell me to keep checking. If you should come across it, I would very much appreciate an email. Thanks again.

Kevin,
I had the same issue with my 1986 13 foot sport with 35 hp Johnson and controls. You have to almost make a hobby out of checking ebay and craigslist on a regular basis to see if anybody lists one for sale. It took me over a year, but how I ultimately found one was to call all the local outboard dealers in my area, especially evinrude dealers because even though OMC is no longer in business, a lot of older 2 stroke outboard owners are etec loyal as they are the last 2 stroke game around. These dealers regular take old outboards in on trade in complete with the controls or just give a scrap value to the buyer of a new outboard when a boat is getting repowered. Just go on Evinrudes website under the Dealer Locator and start calling from nearest dealer to farthest and I be you will find one willing to sell you a complete used control and ship it to you.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have emailed all the Evinrude dealers in Eastern New England. Most replied saying the part is obsolete since 2008.....and nationally nobody is showing they have that part. ... Johnson remote cover 0124885....and that I would have to find it locally at a used/salvage boatyard. If anyone knows of where to go or comes across this part, I would very much appreciate an email. Thank you
