I probably won't make this purchase until next season but I want to keep an eye out for replacement seats for my Whaler. I have 4 of the original Wise plastic seats but would like to replace them with 2 seats up front and some sort of a bench seat for the back.
Unfortunately I'm having trouble finding contact information for the owner of this boat :http://www.whalercentral.com/showuser...oto_id=116 I really like the seats that he chose for his Revenge and am thinking seriously about picking up the same for my boat. Any advice on the make/model of those seats or where I could buy them or something similar would be much appreciated.
John,
Look under "Leaning Post" in a web search and you can get ideas. I have something similar on my boat. It is a stainless framework that accepts a 94qt Igloo cooler. The framework keeps the cooler off the deck by 2 or 3 inches. Has a swing back back rest that has rocket launchers. Came off a Proline Boat and interestingly.....a different company also named Proline makes a similar product. You really have to scrutinize what is out there. If you study it.....the positioning is over your fish locker......you have deck seems and locker access to contend with. I can remove teak fish locker cover without removing the cooler. The width is also a consideration. Gets tight quick between the leaning post framework and the gunnels. Sure is handy on rough seas fishing.
Thanks Garris. Ultimately I'd like to find a bench seat that I can use when my wife and I go out just riding around and something like you have for fishing. If I could somewhat easily swap them out in a few minutes that would be best. Not sure it exists but with the boat drydocked for the next year or so, I'll have time to keep an eye out for that.
I don't think there will ever be a time where you get to a point with a boat and say yep this is perfect. There's always something that will need attention.
