I bought a 1972 13'Sport with a 2002 Nissan 25hp 4S and I'm trying to squeeze the most speed out of this engine. It has a 3 blade aluminum prop (sorry, don't know the pitch) that came standard with the engine. I've heard stainless steel may help, what about a 4 blade?........

I realize that folks seems to be pretty happy w/40hps for this size of boat but my budget will not allow an upgrade right now. So, I'm looking at the prop option.

Just curious if anyone else has had a similiar issue and what was done.

Thanks,
Denny

Get a chance look over articles, a 4 blade is best for larger HP and footage ie 60hp and 18 ft on yours three blade is best comprimise. On larger boats the four blade is smoother but sacrafices in top end,.

On my 1966 13' 20 hp 2 stoke I had 2 blade speed prop and went to three blade power prop for sking.

Denny -

I think the prop pro's (I am not one of them) will want to know what the gear ratio is (owners manual). How high is the engine mounted on the transom?

Engines are not supplied with props (I read it on this board). You can find the size by pulling it off. It should be stamped on the inside edge of the side that faces the lower unit.

What type of performance are you getting now?
