Have 1997 Montauk 17ft 90HP engine. Currently have a Venture trailer on it, doing some pricing on a new one trailer.
My trailer is ok, only thing i replace is the tires, bought the boat in 2009, used. Thankfully no problems, but i'm surrounded by salt. Cross members, center are started to say Helllooo...
Also, dunno if it would be worth the investment to sale the boat in the future, higher value with the new trailer or the old trailer?
Got qouted $2495 for a Karavan (BW2200), other dealer is Ez loader. Haven't received a price yet.
Price is high? There is no dealer in my area (HI), trailer will be shipped (barge) from a outer island.
How are the main outer rails, the axle and spring parts?
If they're ok,
I'd consider just cutting out the rusty pieces,
and welding in new ones.
Prep them and coat with epoxy and topcoat.
Maybe replace u-bolts and spring clamps too.
Make new bunks while your at it.
If you don't weld,
I'm sure a shop would be happy to renovate it,
for way less than $2500!
If it's a square tube rail than it may be trashed,
they don't drain or rinse well.
Definitely C-channel rails is the best in salt.
