I am not sure what is going on here and I could use some help.
I just purchased this vessel and the anchor hatch cover is not attached in any way. There are no holes drilled in the cover top or bottom, but there is an offset hinge installed, and holes drilled for the other, on the starboard side of the hatch opening. According to the wood layout drawing for this boat, the wood that you would screw into appears to be on the port side. Also, the installed hinge does not seem to have enough reach to grab the edge of the cover in a way that would allow some edge distance. I want to fix this but don't want to make a bad situation worse if there is in fact no wood on the stbd side for an effective installation.
Mine is composite like the photos and the holes are drilled in exactly the same place, except for in the cover. Again, I was just concerned with the edge distance on the cover once drilled, and the fact that the Montauk wood drawing does not show any wood in the area where the hinges are located. Seems to work though, so I'll press forward.
