I like the look of Lionhearts lower bow railing on his 1971 Outrage II 21. Might this have been an OE option or someones modification. I have thought of doing this on my 1974 Outrage 21. Not sure how complicated this might be. Any experience out there? Also have thought about removing the railing around the motor well and perhaps using the mounting hardware for a removable tow bar. Any experience is appreciated.
The low profile bow rail on the Ribside 1971 and 1972 models was a factory option, but not widely sold.
I assume you can do it by simply cutting down the vertical stantions on yours at the tops, with the exception of the aft curved sections. Those may have to be cut and sleeved (with internal "hot dog") under the gunwale (where it won't show).
I don't think the low profile bow rail was an option on the 1973' - 1979 21 Outrages, so doing so will make the boat non-original, with subsequent decrease in value.
I like the stern rail, particularly on the Ribside models, but I know some "Smoothside 21" owners have removed the one from those models. It's just personal preference I guess.
Don't have any experience with tow bars, which I assume you mean for waterskiing, etc.
