Just getting ready to start a BW renovation. Hull is good, wood needs refinishing. Sakonnet

Motor is a Suzuki 70 HP.

When I refinish the console, I want to put a top mount throttle on.

like the stainless looking dual handle look

Are they generic to the brand of the motor?

Thanks for the help to a newbie. Sure to have many more questions over the winter.

Top mount throttle/shift assemblies are often the best way for center console boats. Before installing a dual handle system consider that it may be mush less user friendly for the operator and requires more of your valuable console space. It may also be more difficult to find, install and service as well as more expensive.

I recommend you stick to the much more commonly seen single handle control binnacle. The reason almost all single engine boats have a single handle system is that they are much easier to use. For an operator new to boating they are a better choice.

Yes, the morse type top mount controls are generic. You would need a universal connector kit at the motor as well. I converted to a top mount earlier this year. You can see a photo on my personal page. I have an 1984 75 hp Johnson. Let me know if you have any further questions.
