Friends, I have a 1998 Montauk 17 and I'm putting on some electronics and would like a console cover to protect them. Some of these things cost 4 or 500 bucks. Overtons and other sites (West Marine, etc.) have more affordable ones. I can go with either just the console being covered, or with the console and cooler stored directly in front. I'm leaning toward the 2nd because I keep things stored behind the cooler that would have to be removed otherwise. Anybody have recommendations and sizing info?
(Now, before somebody chips in and suggests that I get a tape measure and figure it out, let me say that I'm not near the boat at the moment and was hoping to order this to have it all ready to go when I'm out there again!)

JMills covers are very nice - they're OEM for a reason, their fit, their quality, second to none. They are expensive And can be hard to find used.
I have seen custom tops that go from the console to the RPS as one piece. It seems like a cool idea. I do wonder how it would hold up in high winds if the whaler was at a mooring.

1989 Montauk 17' w/ F70 Yamaha
I've found a few after market that don't fit exactly (a little too large in one direction or another), but very affordable. RBRITDU, does the 1987 Montauk console have the "Shepard's Crook" in front - the curved handle? Curious if it will fit my 1998, but have to be candid, I was quoted $303 brand new directly from Mills

Yes the Standard Console cover I have is for the one with the Shepards Crook . You can look on the Mills website and look under 1987 17 Montauk and Item # 52-5517-00 .There is a picture of the console . They just quoted me $360 so I guess its not the same cover . Mine has a marine zipper on it that zips up snug under the Shepards Crook . Let me know if I can answer any other questions ? I can move a little on the price . Its a very nice cover .. I have to admit, Wm. Mills does know there stuff. Ordered the cover for my 1998 and they asked for a photo of the console to be sure of the year of the console, not the boat. Perhaps you guys know this, but it was news to me: in 1998 they made modifications to the console, but there are some 1998 hulls that have 1997 consoles on them which have slight differences, but apparently enough that the cover made for one will not fit the other. Presumably BW had a few leftovers laying around and installed them before making the transformation complete.
