I have finally decided to install smart tabs on my 1996 "classic hull" custom. The Hydrafoil has done its job but I'm ready to graduate up to a higher performance fix to the porpoise problem this boat has. The only problem I see is the transom of these hulls are not flat, so I'm going to have to get inventive and do my research on the mounting of the tabs.
Last week Friday everything came in, tabs, tab retractors etc. I immediately installed them with minimal trial and was at the river for a test run right before dark. I immediately liked them. No porpoise, instantaneous plane, 4 mph speed increase and I haven't even had a chance to do any adjusting of the tabs. Well, me and my daughter had planned a day on the water Saturday. So Friday night late while gathering all of the "must haves" to keep a nine year old happy for a day in the elements, a friend of mine shows up and pulls up on one of the tabs. It was in the up, retracted position so of course it broke. In trying to shorten the story and get to the point, Greg with Nauticus warrantied the shock. I have to say Greg has been very helpful in to me the best way to install the tabs on such a complex hull as well as getting me back on the water in a timely manner.
