Has anybody here installed a Minn Kota riptide ipilot trolling motor on their montauk? I'm specifically looking for photos of the install and how it was located, not performance. I'm trying to find a bow mount that will work with the front rail still installed. My montauk is a 1988 model. Thanks in advance for help. - Jack

Here is a link to how I mounted a Riptide 55 on my 1986 Montauk 17. I have to guide it under the railing, but it has worked just fine.

Thanks for the information. it looks like it will do exactly what I need. what shaft length did you use ? also, how is the hockey puck method holding up? and do you have any pics during the installation? thanks again.

I ended up using the 48" shaft and the mount has held up well for several years in both salt and fresh water. The 48" does fine for where I fish, although it will come out of the water in big swells. There is a link to a photobucket album under my mounting description in the other thread that shows just how I located it on the bow step. Good luck.
