I am refurbishing a 1995 Montauk 17.
It is tan and Sandshade is the correct Starboard color.
Does anyone have any smaller pieces i could buy?
I can only find whole sheets and I don't need a 4' x 8' sheet.
Boatoutfitters.com doesn't carry that color.
Thanks
Harvey

What thickness, I am planning on getting some 3/8 Sandshade for my hard top. What are the dimensions. The local Tap Plastics has the 1/2" on the shelf and may have some odd pieces or cut a piece to size.

Look at marine suppliers for smaller pieces.
West Marine sells smaller ones.
There are others that stock or will cut.

I need 3/4 or 1 inch but i might be able to work with 1/2. 3/8 would be OK for one application.
Do you have location or number for your local TAP store?
Wezie
I've found a couple of sources for pieces or fabricated parts but i haven't found any that use the Sanshade color.
I called West Marine twice and they said they didn't sell sheets or pieces.
Do you have a local store that might have a clue?
Thanks

TAP Plastics, (707) 544-5772. I make trips right by the store once/twice a week. I have another source where I am getting my material for less cost. I can check out his leftovers if I had some dimensions. Sandshade is a special order from him and he prefers selling full sheets but.....who knows, I can ask.
I contacted TAP and they only carry the Sandshade in 1/2' thickness. Sells for $15.60 a square foot. They used to have a cutting charge but the person answering the phone said no charge for rectangular cuts. The weight adds up quick with this material and I would recommend extra reinforcement if possible and going with the thinner stuff.
My spoils will be close to 1 ft x 8 ft;3 ft x 2 ft; 4 ft x 2 ft.. I may size up to 1/2" thick. Still debating.

email me your phone #. My email address is in my profile and maybe we can find a way to make this work for both of us. 1/2" can be planed down if necessary.
Thanks

Harvey,
I will shoot you an email with the phone number. I called my discount supplier and am getting prices on the 3/8" and 1/2". I have to check the pliability of the 1/2" with a 3/4" crown over a 5 ft span. Planing this stuff would make an environmental hazard. I have worked with it and it makes the styrofoam packing bubbles look clean. Using the thicker material will only increase my weight by 25 lbs. Once I get a price on the sheets I can cut them here to make them more reasonable to ship. My email is in my profile so feel free to contact me there. I read about an additive that prevents mildew/moss type growth and would probably go that route. I live among redwoods and firs and have a very organic air around me.
