Has anyone sourced Starboard or 'glass replacements for anchor and console hatches? My boat (1988) is used heavily as commuter; no time for bright work. Ideal would be an early '90's "smoke glass" hatches and fiberglass front hatch.
(please follow guideline #1 on the front page and use the full 4 digit year)
Starboard is somewhat flexible and for your forward hatch if you use material thick enough to not flex it will be very heavy. Teak really requires no maintenance and you can just let it go to grey. It won't rot and weighs a lot less than starboard. Yes it's expensive but you're saving a lot of money on boat soap, waxes and other maintenance items.
I winter in Ft. Myers and summer in St. Joseph, Michigan. It’s now about 12 years since I’ve joined this group. I gave my 1972 whaler to my daughter and sold the 17’. Bought an O’Day 28 sailboat and sailed on Lake Michigan. Yesterday I bought a 2005 130 Sport.
I purchased a starboard hatch from Martin marine referenced on this site. Yes, it is heavy. But very sturdy and totally maintenance free. Perfect fit and I'm happy with it after one season.
