I thought I would post the results of my new on-deck fuel tank installation on my 1989 Montauk. The tank was made by KSH marine. It was an easy swap. I called them and provided them with the dimensions. When speaking with them they even had suggestions that were perfect. The tank arrived and is installed. 40 gallons now and no leaky fiberglass tank to deal with. This is a no brainer for those want to upgrade their Montauk fuel source. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to do it.

You don't say what material the new tank is made from.
Metal?
Plastic?
Concrete?
Other?

Hi. I went to their site and nice alum. tanks. I live part time in Vincennes, ind. and I assume you got these in Evansville ? Was it the D-1212 and if you don't mind approximate cost per tank. I have two 1974 tanks [ original ] on my montauk that I was going to restore, however your tanks might change my thinking.

Total cost for the tank delivered was $450.00. Well worth it. I blocked my RPS seat up to allow for a larger tank. I measured and suppled KSH with the measurments. They then made the tank and shipped it to me.

I recently bought two of the D1212 tanks (12 gal each). $240 each. This approach is form/fit replacement for the original two Tempo tanks. I had some questions/issue with aluminum/brass fittings for the tanks - see older thread. I did not get mine painted, although I was tempted to have them painted red. Was expensive to have them painted (ie powder coated).
Is there any market for the old original Tempo 12 gallon tanks? I'd like to get rid of mine.

Two 12 gallon tanks = 24 gallons.
slockyear,
What dimensions does your 40 gallon tank have?

I'm sure if you call KSH they can provide you with the dimensions. The boat is not located near me and I can't find the email i sent them.
