I'm replacing the console wood doors/frames on my 1986 Montauk 17. The original installation uses bolts with the screw heads exposed on the exterior. I was wondering if anyone ever used wood screws from inside the console, such that there is no exposed hardware showing. Perhaps this approach is not strong enough, or loosens over time?
Yes, my console door frames are attached with wood screws driven from the inside. It's perfectly secure but was a real nuisance to remove and replace for refinishing.
