I grew up on a 15 sport, and I have bought a 1986 15 Sport that I am in the process of starting to restore. I would like to make it like the 15 Striper with only an aft bench. I like the Striper console since it sits higher and looks like it would be better on my back. There is a big difference between being 15 and 41! Does anyone have any measurements/plans on how to build a console like this? Or a lead on where one could be purchased? I am not opposed to building it out of wood. Thanks!

I think Sue at Twin Cities has a console in stock. If you want a windshield to fit that console, UPD Plastics made me one and should still have the measurements. One small change needs to be made if you decide to do it that way. It needs to be two inches shorter top to bottom.
I converted a Standard to a Striper, check out my personal page. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks for your help! I talked to Sue at Twin Cities. Very nice lady. It seems that she doe not have a Striper console in stock and it seems that the last time BW did this was in the commercial division back in 2008. Probably cheaper to build one?

Swyeth will definitely be able to give better guidance because his Striper is original, especially in reference to the proper placement of the console. I had to guess on mine. But still feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

I am also in the process of restoring a 15 foot Striper model. Mine is a 1985 and I am seeking a console for it. Sue at Twin Cities Marine (wonderful and knowledgeable Lady) is checking with the Boston Whaler commercial division about the availability of consoles. I will post what I learn from her.

ALSO!!!!
I will offer this console to be used as a mold if there is a real fabricator who would like to take on the project...
Any thoughts?

Swyeth, great addition to your personal page for reference purposes. Also, I couldn't agree more with the steering wheel position. I have since moved mine to the port side of my console. Sooo much more comfortable and so is the no feedback steering helm.

Sue at Twin City Marine said that the commercial division of Boston Whaler either had striper consoles or would make them for $800 or so.

I have finally finished the sport last week. Ran it for about 2 hours when the weather was still good. Boat ran great with the Yamaha 50! Let me know what you guys think about it.

I just happened upon this thread. I recently finished up the restoration and the conversion of my 15' Striper to a custom center console. I built a plug and then a mold for the console top, the top glass part hinges forward which makes woring on the inside of it easy, and the bottom part with the forward seat is mahogany. It turned out really well and I have gotten many compliments. I thought about offering copies of this center console for sale. Problem is, there is alot of labor involved what with all the mahogany work. I still have the side Striper console sitting around. It would be easy for me to use it for a plug, make a mold from it and then make glass copies of the Striper console. I notice that the original console is very thin, I believe it should be somewhat thicker. I have extensive experience in doing glass work, and could easily build Striper consoles. Anyone wanting to restore their 15 footers, its an easy restoration as far as the interior goes. I believe the Striper console would also fit the 13 footer also, just a different shape at the bottom.
I'm interested in you comments
