I should be getting my 1978 Montauk in the water later this week, so this past weekend was sanding and varnishing and today I spent some time washing and polishing. I noticed that my rails look great and cleanup up to be almost like new. But all the fittings are pitted and dull. Are the rails finished differently than the fittings? Or is it just possible I have newer rails and original fittings? Anyone else notice this difference on their boats?
