Does anybody have any advice for a removable livewell that won't take up a lot of space on my Sakonnet? BW makes a "carry on" model that is really cool and would be perfect but it is a little pricey. There are many tanks out there, does anybody have any suggestions here. I mostly need it for mackerel and pogies, so a round model is needed..Thanks for your help!

Did you look at the cooler/livewell conversion kit? They can be bought for cheap.

Look at www.keepalive.net
I use one of their portable units. KA 700 in an Igloo 54 cooler.
It will keep a lot Menhadden alive all day. No easy task.
You do need to watch polarity and clean it after every use.
If you have the wrong polarity it runs the wrong direction and won't pump oxygen.
If you don't clean it with fresh after use it will freeze up.
I put a thru-hull fitting thru the side wall of the cooler and it makes a great livewell.
I also have an Engel 30quart portable live well that allows me to buy live shrimp and take them to the boat.
It is great and if I'm fishing a short day it is all I need.

I have one of the keepalive tanks. Keep it in the port stern corner hooked up to the stern light pigtails sitting on some Drydeck. It's on the boat at the marina right now but I think it's about five gallons. Works great, fill with a bucket of whatever I'm floating in. Screw cap on side at bottom drains it easily. The thing I like about it is it's removable.

I winter in Ft. Myers and summer in St. Joseph, Michigan. It’s now about 12 years since I’ve joined this group. I gave my 1972 whaler to my daughter and sold the 17’. Bought an O’Day 28 sailboat and sailed on Lake Michigan. Yesterday I bought a 2005 130 Sport.

I use a 14 gallon round removable bait tank from west marine placed in the stern port corner. The outflow on the tank is high enough (with a small piece of hose attached) to drain over the side. I use a pump that attaches to the transom. The system works great without any wiring or hoses in the way. When not in use everything is removable......
