I am hoping to install the center console on my 1963 Sakonnett tomorrow. To mount to the hull we are fabricating pvc mounting strips and mounting one inside the console base and then attaching another to the floor of the hull. We will then attach the 2 together. My question is what size mounting screws to use for the deck? The download of the mounting strips in the hull shows that the ply in the floor is 1/2". What diameter screw should I use? I'm figuring stainless is the way to go? My other question is what to use for a sealer both in the screw holes and under the mounting strips I attach to the boat? I was going to use silicon for this?? Thanks for the help!
