Does any have the information or link on the specs for the original teak gunwale? I recently acquired BW outrage and it was missing. I would like to make a replace.
I built several identical ones for my 1979 22 ft Revenge. I had a good one to scribe from. I used 3/4 " marine mahogany plywood. If you contact me through my personal page, I will be glad to scribe it on piece of paper and mail you the pattern. I used a hole saw for the center circles and cut the uprights to the circles with a small Delta band saw with a thin blade. The edge that fits directly up against the hull underneath the gunwale is tapered and needs to be custom fit. I actually had a couple of original pieces to scribe from, they were not perfectly identical, just very close.

I purchased beautiful replica's from Walter at black duck gallery. They appear to be a perfect match and the price was reasonable relative to the high quality.
Marko, total agreement. If I did not have use for the spoils/remainder of the sheet of marine plywood, I think the cash out of pocket would have been close to a "wash" in cost. If you have the material around they are fun to make. When I held the full originals together, as well as the remnants of the originals, it appears to me that these were a hand made custom fit from Whaler.

Gchuba, agreed. I think the price would be a "wash." Since I have to hunt down the wood, gas, sand paper, and labor; then the chance it might not come out the way I wanted.
Thanks, Marko that was the site I had in mind.
BTW. Specialty Marine, has the 2 hook gunwale in teak and already varnished. But I'm thinking of going for the 3 hook from BDG.
