The current mounting brackets for the bimini top on the gunwall are riveted in , I need to replace them (stripped) should I use rivets again or should I use screws? Any advice would help
I would suggest looking up the wood chart on this site for your boat and then you can made your decision based on whether or not there is wood in the area your mounts are. I would guess there is no wood there as they used rivets to mount your hardware to start with. You might consider filling in the holes with epoxy and re-drilling for new rivets. Also look into stainless steel rivets. They are difficult to drill out again but they won't oxidize due to dissimilar metal contact.
