The original tan box tops from my 1986 Outrage 18, now 27 years old, were beginning to show their age and looking grayish in color, with a lot of black dirt in the many corners. I tried everything to clean them, and was able to get the gease and dirt off, but the overall appearance was still terrible. I assumed the UV, salt and weather had finally destroyed their appearance.
Then as a last resort I tried ZEP mold stain and mildew stain remover (in blue spray bottle), from Home Depot. I followed the instructions, and simply sprayed it on and let it sit for 10 minutes, with no scrubbing. After rinsing them off, THEY WERE LIKE NEW AGAIN, and the original color and smooth plastic surface was restored. I couldn't believe that the problem was actually mold and mildew, which evidenlty the tan plastic soaks up like a sponge.
So if your tan boxes are looking bad, try this cleaner. You will be amazed and they will look like new.
