I'm a new member always wanted a Whaler and just purchased a 1990 Boston Whaler Outrage 18.6 or 19 about 3 weeks ago love the boat. It was sold to me with a broken bow eye so I know I need to get that fixed. Any one have any experience or info with this I'm pretty sure the bolt comes from the bow eye to the deck and connects to lifting eye. Any help would be really appreciated.

Tom,
Starting around 1988, Whaler changed the Bow Eye to the newer style.
Is this what you have, or had?

I have a little 2010 2.5 hp outboard that I don't use since the inflatable died. I see in your photos you have an 8hp . Do you think If I mount the 2.5hp motor it will have enough power also would I need a special bracket for it ? Do you recommend me installing it ? You still need the tiller to turn and give it gas I assume. I have the 18 foot whaler in the KeyLargo where we have allot of shallows that come out of nowhere that I think it would be nice to have a little engine to navigate with.
PS Your Whaler looks great

Tom,
A couple of things.
1. You would need a 20 inch Long Shaft motor.
2. You would clamp it directly on the transom, not bracket.
3. Don't think a 2.5 hp would do much except troll very slowly.
If it is a 20 inch Long Shaft, you could clamp it on the transom and try it out.
Otherwise, I would consider selling it and buying an 8hp or 9.9hp with a 20 inch Long Shaft.
Here are the Kicker motor weights:

You don't mention what brand your main motor is but many members like to have a matching brand of kicker.
If that doesn't matter to you, then the lightest weight 8hp or 9hp kicker would be a good choice.
See these other links on the Outrage 19 I models. (1990 to 1991)

Thanks for the info I don't mind if it does not match for now Yamaha with Johnson but think it might be best to sell and get larger engine like you suggested.

See this other article we have on installing a Kicker motor on an Outrage and Montauk.

I control the kicker from the helm with a dual binnacle control. One for the main motor and one for the kicker.
