Hi guys, I made this trolling motor bracket today & I was hoping a whaler expert could tell me how I should attach it to my boat? I am wondering about toggle bolts versus screws and what type of application to squirt between the bracket and the boat or does it need a peice of starboard to act like a bumper for lack of a better word. 5200 sealant? Please advise!
There is nothing to screw to. I drilled some test holes today. I ended up going with toggle bolts and 5200 sealant under the bracket and in the holes. I guess only time will tell if it will hold. If I had it to do over I would have used toggle bolts with a screw head on them instead of nuts so I could counter sink them into the aluminum for a cleaner look but oh well.
I really thought this would be a valid interesting post conjuring up lots of replys an feedback giving how a 13 sport does not lend itself to bow mount trolling & the fact most men enjoy fishing and not simply joy riding.
I no longer own a 13' but anyone who does and needs to mount an electric trolling motor, that looks like a good way to go on those older Smirkless hulls.
