Gents,

I have a 2006 240 Outrage with macerator pump outs in the fish boxes that have stopped working. The motors sound to be still running, the raw water works (which I think runs off the same pump) but no water is removed from fish box and sent overboard.

I do not think it is plugged up but could be wrong.

Anyone ever have similar experience or any advice?

Thanks,

Brian

Just bought a Whaler last year and love it, just found this site.

I have a 2004 Outrage 240 and apparently the bait box macerator pumps do wear out fairly easily. I bought my boat last year as well.

First, the raw water is a different pump. It is under the console near the batteries.

On delivery of my boat both bait box pumps were seized and not working. Removing them proved that they were badly corroded and needed replacement.

Sounds like yours are running but not pumping. There is a impeller on these motors that can get burned up if run dry. This is likely your problem. I believe that you will need to pull the macerators to check the impellers on them. You access them through the 2 round portholes on the transom. You must contort yourself and you will bust your knuckles getting them out. You might consider pulling your boat, otherwise you might will sink it!! I think I paid about $90 each for replacement pumps. I think I'd just put new entire macerators in instead of replacing the impellers. This is a job you don't want to do often. I think i took and hour per side.

Here is the pump I used:

Good luck.
