Hi,

I am doing a restore on a 1982 outrage 18 and I was hoping someone may know what is the best way to go about replacing the bow railing. I have inquired with a few local metal fabrication places locally in Seattle and all prices are quoted around $2,000. Has anyone encountered this before or had luck with another company? Any information is appreciated! Thank you!

That price sound about right but why not buy a used OE bow rail. They turn up now and then. Shipping is your biggest obstacle.

You can also have one built by Fred Caldwell (CMI) who has the original Whaler bending jigs for that rail.

Joe at Orlando's fiberglass found a used bow rail for my 18 Outrage. But it was a welded rail instead of the fitting one which came on ours.

It was an instant upgrade of the looks.

The earlier original version will be easier to ship since partial disassembly is possible.

Seadog makes solid stainless steel rail fitting that uses allen head set screws instead of the Whaler style screws. The Seadog fitting work wonderfull tighten solidly and look great.
