Not "Plexiglass"! This is a common mistake where ever windshields are concerned. Plexiglass is a great plastic material but not for windshields unless the shield is fully enclosed in a strong frame. Lexan is the correct material for stand alone and unframed windshields because it will not break or shatter into sharp pieces.
Plexi is brittle and will explode and shatter while Lexan is flexible and will bend but never shatter.
I learned this years ago while working in the MC/ATV industry and there were numerous horror stories from guys who made various shields from Plexiglass. You can be sure UPD plastics uses some form of Lexan.
