Putting my 1988 Outrage 18 back together and I would like to know what size of shock cord is used for the cooler hold downs? 5/16 or 3/8 would be my guess. Thanks

Kamie to the rescue again! I happened by the West Marine store to get the black polysulfide caulk and remembered I needed some shock cord and didn't have my cooler chocks to see what would fit in the holes and knot up small enough. I must have thrown out the old cords that were in terrible shape and probably not much value in determining size. I also think 3/8 is the size. Thanks

Are you using hooks on the cord to secure the cooler, or do you have to original style plastic "hooks" screwed on to the cooler, that the cord loops over? Are these original style items still available?

I have new Blackduck cooler chocks to install for this year, so need to work this out n

Marko, I have the plastic pieces that screw to the cooler that is still serviceable. My shock cords were rotted. Not sure if the plastic pieces that screw to the cooler are available or would have to be fabricated.

Yes, the plastic Whaler "cooler hooks" are still available. About $8.50 each from your favorite Whaler Parts Dealer.
