I am new to the Boston Whalers and wondering were I can find parts? I'm looking to put a console and steering on my 1988 11 footer. I might have a wood worker I know make the Console just need the dimensions. Any feed back on these boats would be greatly appreciated!

Mike

I really appreciate it Huckelberry! I would like to put a console on mine with a nice big chrome steering wheel like on the sports. Then I'll have to find the throttle and gear box thing. Work in progress but at least I have a good solid 11 footer.

Even better, why don't I just mail you the console parts I used as a template to make my replacement. They came off my 1979 11' sport. There are some rabbits and dado joints as well as the hole for the steering wheel that will be difficult to describe.

You might also look in the Downloads link on the left sidebar for "Parts Drawings" for the 13' model interior.

This will give you a general idea on the different parts even though the measurements will probably not be the same for the 11' model.

Teleflex steering box/cable is a great way to go I recently did this on my 13 '. Go with an original stainless steel steering wheel and you're good to go.

You have a nice looking 11' in your personal pictures. For some reason I remember reading about an issue running teleflex cable on the 11' whaler. You may want research that subject. The 11' originally came with a pulley cable steering.

I just emailed you a series of pictures and dimensions from my 1980 11ft Sport that I did for another member a year or so ago when I had mine taken apart.

With this and the great info from the other members above you should be okay.

Also, I have a 1994 9.9 Evinrude on mine.

I have an 11' SS that my son and I are going to restore this winter. It has the pulley system on it for steering. I'm not sure how well the teleflex cable will work. On my 13' I used a baystar hydraulic system that worked awesome.

The teleflex cable goes through the hinge on outboard, which doesn't look like you have with that 6 horse. But don't worry, it is an easy fix, just install a 25hp back there. Trust me, you're going to want to plane off when you get that console on there. The only problem is finding a short shaft outboard with remote controls. If I have a console, I prefer to have my start switch there also.

Btw, the piece of mahogany that runs along the port and starboard sides that hold the thwart seat down, there is a name for them but I can't remember what it is. Anyway, you will have to make one to be able to attach the console as well as the side mount control. That I also still have and can send pictures and measurements of.
