Play in the wheel??

Member Posts: 2 Comments: 0 Joined: 02/23/12	Getting the 1984 Montauk ready for the season and i finally decided to address the play in the steering wheel this year. The issue turned out to be the plastic bearing/spacer/guide (not sure what its called) ring that fits around the steering shaft but clips into the black collar. It was completely worn through. Administrator Personal Page Personal Album Project Albums Posts: 7043 Comments: 6 Joined: 03/26/05	On the inside of the helm (inside the console) there should be a Manufacturer's marking.If the helm is old, probably original, it's Teleflex. Replacement parts may be hard to find. It might be easier to replace the helm.
