how do you refinish an anchor ?

I have wire brushed the rust and have sprayed Rustoleum rusty metal primer on it. But what to use for a topcoat ? Paint or a rubber coating like Dip It or maybe truck bed liner ? I want to protect the anchor and the boats storage locker. So what to use ?

Member Posts: 168 Comments: 7 Joined: 05/25/11	I'd forget the paint or whatever and take it to a hot dip galvanizing shop. It'll come out looking like new. Rubber coatings etc won't last and will inhibit the anchor digging in for a good set. this works for anchor rode chain also.

I'm in Marietta and plan to only boat in inland lakes so the river anchor should be fine. I have yet to put this boat in the water it was purchased as a project but I am very close to being done. Hope to have her in the water in April.
