Has anyone had any experience with Sea-line consoles? They are made from 1/2" Nida-Core which I've heard is very rigid.
For $200 shipped on eBay that seems like a good deal.
I'm thinking that I will gain more room along side the console and would make the boat look more clean. The only down side is that I will loose some storage space.
What are people thoughts going away from a stock console?
If I end up going with a new console, I might have a stock console available. Not sure what it is worth. Pictures of the boat are at:
I think since your boat is going to be a total restore it is a great chance to give it a fresh new look. I know when i first referbed my 15 Most people at the boat docks thought she was a brand new boat. The lines on those boats are timeless as they say.
It looks like the new one has a more comfortable helm angle. The storage difference probably isn't enought to worry about and you might get better access.
Nida-Core is only a backing material usually used behind the dash and on the sides of the console. Plywood is usually used, but eventually rots. Nida-core sounds like a good idea. However are these consoles made of fiberglass or plastic. $200 sound very inexpensive to me.
I ended up buying the console turns out its all fiberglass and nida core backing on the dash mounting area .The quality is pretty good for a production line console. Not a bad deal for a replacement. I'll be posting pictures soon of my progress on my restoration. I spent the last 3 weekends prepping the hull and interior for gelcoat. I'm having it sprayed on Thursday and i'll be wet sanding and buffing it out this weekend! I picked up a new F70 and cant wait till its all finished.
