I am looking to use awlgrip or interlux perfection - either way first choice is to use a Two Part Polyurethane. I read some posts saying awlgrip oyster white and others saying awlgrip cream. Or second choice use a one part polyurethane interlux brightside or pettit easypoxy. What is the best match for desert tan? Do either companies mix a custom color to match desert tan? I even read a post talking about adding benjamin moore Tint to white to find a match, but there has to be a better way. I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions (and i would appreciate if we didnt start a re-gelcoat vs. paint debate). Anyone willing to share pics if they have matched desert tan with paint would be very much appreciated. Thanks again
I've personally restored a 13 Sport with Awlgrip oyster white on the inside and Desert Tan on the outside. I found the oyster white was a great color. If you go to white the sun will blind you. I think the Awlgrip desert tan was a bit darker than the BW desert tan. I thought those two colors together gave the boat a contemporary look.
You might want to pick up a Awlgrip color chart. I think it will give you a better understanding of the different colors offered by Awlgrip.
I was happy with the out come of painting my 13 Sport. But, unless your going to keep the boat for a long time. I think painting the boat is a waste of money. But, in the end. It's only money.
