I need to replace the OEM stern light cover on my 1972 Outrage. Anyone know where to find a suitable replacement?

Do you have the Kanier?

or the Perko?

Are you talking about the clear lense at the top of this original stern light pole?

If so, it may be difficult to find. I would see if Perko's all around stern light can be adapted. Whaler used that on later versions of this same idea.

Thank you Joe and Finnegan. It is definately not the Kanier. Its a screw on. It could be a Perko, but its not the one in the photo. Its taller, but not smooth. Its generally the same size and shape as the one in this link: http://www.perko.com/catalog/category...roduct/24/

But its far older and has many smaller uniform ridges like the Perko link Joe provided.

Larry,

What in the world is wrong with photobucket?
The last photos you have shown us have all been small photos for me and I can't enlarge them.

Good luck. Those tall cylindrical globes have not been made in decades. I have only ever seen a few in my life, but, as always, eBay is your friend when looking for small old obscure and rare parts.

Joe - I have noticed Photobucket has gone through some changes, which for me, have made it harder to use. They now have this "beta" in their address, indicating they must be doing some new format testing. But for me, the photos still do load full size, but I cannot enlarge them full screen either. Loading is much slower also.

As for this stern light situation, if the boat is a 1972 Outrage, it is a 21 Ribside. Or I suppose it could be a late 1972 produced 1973 model year 21 Smoothside, which used the stern light pole I am showing and was also used on the 19's, with the blinder on it.

If he ideed has the 1972 Ribside, the stern light on those boats attached to the stern rail, and probably had the lense you are showing in your first link. Mine was already goine by the time I bought the boat, so I don't have any accurate information. Tom's catalog CD may show what the original lense looked like. I can't imagine it is still available.

Yes, it would be nice to know if this is actually a 1972 21' ribside
http://www.whalercentral.com/articles...icle_id=97

The only Stern Light that the 1972 catalog shows is the Kanier. 24 inches tall.
See the attached photo.

Joe - In your listing, I notice hull #450 still has the original stern light on it.

No, it's completely different from that. It attaches to the stern rail so it can fold down. I do not know who made it. Tom Birdsey had a really nice example on his rib side...until he lost it.

The light in question is shown on the cover of the six page 1971 Outrage Flyer

And I also would need one of those stern light if available.
Not an easy task to be chasing down adequate parts.

If you are talking about the folding stern light on the ribside............it was made by Wilcox Crittenden. I have access to one if you still need. -Paul
