The aftermarket reversable seat that came on my 1985 Outrage 18 started to look pretty ratty. It was not the OEM RPS, but rather it had a built in cooler under the seat and the seat back was also upholstered.
I decided that I wanted to replace it with a leaning post which was an OEM option on this hull. Since the OEM leaning posts are no longer available, the problem became trying to find one that looked similar to the original.
After a search, I found an old thread that talked about Birdsall Marine. Fortunately, Birdsall Marine is still in operation in West Palm Beach. They can fabricate a leaning post that is very similar to the original. They can even make the 10" fiberglass storage box and the fiberglass shelf behind the seat that the flushmount rod holders mount on, off white to match the hull!!!
They were very easy to work with and even suggested that at 5'-9" I might want to lower the finished height just a tad to custom fit me.
They have a variety of upholstery available, but not sure if they have the brown piping or not. I got pleated white upholstery.
