May I ask someone to measure the length of the originals? I have found a potential replacement product that is almost identical.

http://www.whalercentral.com/photogal...hoto_id=91

I need to know the overall length, and the length from bottom, to lower edge of the plastic collar.

Thank you

Mark,
Mine are 11.5" overall, including the lip liner.
The lip liner appears to extend down into the tube by 1 5/8". I'm reluctant to remove it because of its age and condition.

Mine are the size and my lip liners are heavily stained but still functional. I have always wondered if any one has tried the stuff called "DIP IT" that is available in colors and commonly used to coat the handles of tools and rope ends.

Thanks Kamie...but my RPS has been refinished a few times now and is too narrow for the Lee's flange. I'll find something eventually that could be more permanent than the Scotty Oar Collars I'm using right now... or I may just fabricate something to make them permanent.

The originals are pretty straight forward and should be very simple to make if you can find the tubing. They are straight at the bottom and have a slight flare on the top with the lip cover. There used to be a place here that specialized in manufacturing stainless steel commercial kitchen tables and other furniture and I would bet they would have had the tubing in the correct size. I am not a machinist but I don't think it would be that difficult to make a slight flare on one end and as I said above, dip that end in white Dip It.

Mine appear to be a chrome plated brass but I am sure the stainless would look just as nice and it can be polished to a high luster.

Just a thought. If you are not all that concerned with originality and just need functional rod holders than PVC plastic would suffice.

Let me know if you need exact inside and outside measurements. Mine are in the RPS which is stored down stairs right now.
