I am looking to replace my Mercury issued steering heel and would like to see some of the examples of the choices made on your models.
What would you see installed on a Classic Outrage 19 to complete the whole image of the model?
What would be your preferred choices?

Ritz: 1st is money a problem? 2nd is you boat kept in a safe place? I would look at an Edson Bronze or Teak Steering Wheel, about $800 each...

I believe you want a 5 spoke Schmidt wheel. They are the same as the original Whaler wheels used in 1975. You can see the original wheel in my Outrage album the website link.

Contender,
I think that disposable income has been a problem for the vast majority of us these days.
And Larry,
I am trying to stay fateful to the OEM and would love to secure a replacement for this rubber model here.
I am exploring of sources and possible left over parts from the vast Whaler groups here on the lists.
I am not an American Picker but would still enjoy great pricing.
Leads would be appreciated.

The wheel that is probably used the most on bost is the 5 spoke stainless, I have seen them for $40 at flea markets on up to over $100 at the marine stores, Long lasting, does not rust, nice to drive with, good looking....

The other thing to consider (and why I love the spoke wheel) is with some of the other wheels, getting it centered can be a lesson in futility.

I have always liked the SS destroyer wheel but my first choice for my new console build was an antique brass spoked wheel made by Perko in the 30's. see my personal page for photo.
