I recently fabricated a teak bow pulpit per the drawing by LHG from the downloads section for my 1989--18' Outrage. I am unclear as to the details of the 1/2" plywood shim above rubrail & under pulpit, as stated on the drawing. I've looked at every single 18' Outrage personal page on this site and there are no photo's shedding light on this detail. If someone could provide a photo from underneath, it would be great.
Another concern I have is that the only thru bolts are the forward 2, of 4 bolts that attach it to the hull. This would seem to provide good resistance to upward force on the pulpit but not nearly as much resistance to a downward force i.e. the pull of the anchor or the weight of the anchor on the pulpit in a pounding situation.
Does anyone know the size of the aluminum backing plate in the bow?
I have a shop that will fabricate the pulpit rail so I feel like I can very closly duplicate a factory installation.
Just need advice, photo's and reassurance that if bolted down per the LHG drawing, this thing will be very stout.
