I am the proud new owner of a 2007 Montauk 170. I am looking for a console cover and a boat cover that are well made and suit the boat. I know that there are several companies that make boat covers, but it is harder to find makers of console covers. The boat cam with a black bimini top.
Any suggestions for good values in covers would be welcome. Thanks

I like the fit and quality for the price of Carver Industries boat covers. A dealer I've used with no problems is discountboatcover.com (no "s" after cover) in, I believe, South Carolina. The cover I bought for my 190 Montauk was drop shipped from Carver and I had it in about four days.
I buy the semi-custom covers. I don't know if they sell a console cover but they are so inexpensive a locally fabricated one could be used.

I have a dark blue sunbrella complete full boat cover made for 1987 Montauk 17. This is just like brand new, ya they all say that, but this really is! I will Gaurentee it or money back! See my teenagers love thier Montauk but are to lazy to put the cover on the boat. I have stored this cover in my garage. Lets make a deal that we both can be happy with. My contact is: Barry Bicknell #1-772-341-0111 , BarryBicknell@BellSouth.com , in Palm Beach, Fl area.

I don't believe the cover for a Montauk 17 will fit the newer Montauk 170 properly.

Hey Fish,
I have a Sunbrella cover that is over 10 years old and has endured many New York winters.Got it from Boat US. Chris

Stay away from Taylor Made boat covers and iBoats. I just got ripped off for $240 for a Taylor Made Hot Shot boat cover that was an extremely sloppy fit with thin material, incorrectly sewed in tie-down strap buckles and cheap budgie draw cord. The cover is probably worth $49-$69. Definitely not the $240 iboats hosed me for.

F,
I have a used custom cover that came with my 18' Guardian (Outrage) available in good shape - there are a few more pictures posted in the parts for sale section. It's 18' long by 8' 10" wide with padding for the console and seat backs and rubrail clips - it's in very good condition but is too short for our boat.
Here's a couple of pix.

I have read that some members who are looking for an economical cover use patio furnature covers.
Take some basic measurements and visit some of the big box retailers.
While they are not "Mills" quality, they can be practical.

I will second the recommendation for a Carver cover. Although mine is quite new, so far, I really like it. I ditched the included straps and bought some bungies from Perfect Bungie. Perfect Bungies have a plastic sleeve that prevents any scratches on the hull. No metal "S" hooks to tear things up. I also installed some attachment points on the trailer (there I go, needing to update my profile again).
