I finally worked out the trick for making the drain tubes with the heaver gauge brass. It's a little tougher to work but I think it will be worth and last the life of the boat. If you don't have the tool a 3/4" drive short socket extension works fine with a small sledge hammer.
I have about a foot left over, it takes about 3 1/8" per tube so 1 Ft. should do it.
1) Set the tube on a block on a hard surface, I used a scrap of Trex decking
2) Drive the extension into the tube
3) It flairs it out nicely
4) Cut the tube to the proper length
5) Install O-ring and install on boat
6) Add the outer O-ring and flair with a ballpeen hammer. I used a trailer ball as a block on the inside while I was peening the outside.
FYI: I coated the inside of the tube channel (in the transom) with boat life caulk.
