Can someone tell me what the bow locker latch for an 1986 17 Montauk looks like. The one on my boat is brass colored, yet the hinges are Chrome or SS. I'm wondering if the latch is supposed to match the hinges? Anyone have a picture? Thanks.

No such thing as a 1986 Montauk 170....

The Montauk 170 was not made until 2002.....

What you have is a Montauk 17' made from 1973 to 2002.

We have many, many, many photos of these parts in project albums, personal pages, and the "OEM Part Photos and Info" section.... All those links can be found on the left sidebar.
Scroll down to the "Locker Hinges - Montauk" on the OEM Part Photos and Info here:

There was no bow locker latch on the 1986 Montauk 17. Whaler never installed latches on the bow lockers of small classic Whalers. I do not know why not. Without a latch the hatch flaps every time you go over a wave.

The best latch I have found for the classic Montauk is the anti-rattle hold down design by Perko, though other manufacturers have similar latches. Either chrome plated bronze or stainless steel are preferred.

Joe and Tom, thanks so much for such a quick response. I didnt' meant to say "170". It was a typo. Meant to say "17' ". Thanks again.
