I have a 2007 150 Montauk with full side and bow rails. I have tried twice to get a water/rain proof cover but each time I receive what I ordered it does not come close to fitting over the rails even though it's advertised to do that. My two orders were thru iboats.com but different manufacturers.
I have a canvas towing cover made for the boat by BW but it likely won't stand up to days of rain. Does anyone have a good storm/rain cover? Tell me where to find one !!
Usually I store my boat in my barn 25 miles away but we're having a fairly mild winter so far so I've kept it at home for nice days. Once in the barn it'll stay there til later in the Spring.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Waterproof covers are not recommended. A good acrylic cover will keep out almost all rain but there is almost always some seepage at seams.
I've had excellent luck with covers made by Carver Industries and sold by Discount Boat Covers. They sell semi-custom covers that are a virtually perfect fit for Whalers with bow and side rails. Customer service is good and they will advise you on the right cover for your application if you call the toll free number. Try carvercovers.com and discountboatcover.com to get the contact numbers.
Butch: I was glad to see your reply. I went to that site and they no longer show a cover for a 150 Montauk. I hope someone else has a suggestion. Thanks for trying.

Mark,
We bought a New Cabella 17 Montauk fitted for rails cover for our 1989 Montauk and it fits fantastic. Some rain will naturally come in at the stern where the cover accomodates the engine, but it's minor, and this one's been thru several hurricanes. Best one I've owned and I highly recommend it. If memory serves me well, I bought it thru Bass Pro Shops online. They will tell you if it will fit your model w/full rails. You can see it on our Personal Page. Good Luck.

Just a suggestion, but call Carver or Discount Covers. There is a good chance they have retained the patters for a 150 Montauk or that they have one left over.
Chris/Dale: I saw those in the Cabelas catalog a long time ago but they seem to only make them for the Montauk 17...mine is a 15.
Butch: Good idea...I'll try that.
I did call yesterday and talk to Mill Canvas. They referred to the cover I have as a mooring cover. I guess they are fairly water repellant and it seems to be holding up but when our true winter rains come I'm not sure. I ordered a product they recommended..Sunbrella 303...to boost up the repellantcy of the canvas. I can always bungee down a tarp I suppose.
