Check with Modenacart. Josh had some of his parts chromed and I think the place was in NJ and very reasonable.

He tried to get my old Morse MT2 control re chromed but the place will not touch parts that are pot metal. They did a real nice job on the brass parts.

Is it recommended to remove old flaking chrome or sand down scratches before sending it off to be re-chromed?

Yes, anything you can do to clean up the parts beforehand will save labor (and expense) at the chrome shop.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I did remember that Josh just had some work done, but I thought I remembered him saying the guy was a little hard to contact.

My father just had some grab-rail ends re-chromed for his Hatteras, the guy is good, but not cheap, his info is this Glenn West, email glennwest7@gmail.com, phone # cell 910-574-2354. His business is in Fayetteville, NC. He does great work, but replacement is more costly.

There is also these guys:

Graves Plating Inc.

http://www.gravesplating.com/

They can plate badly pitted metal and crappy pot metal too, no problem, but it is not cheap to bring back parts like that.

The guy I used said it is cheaper to NOT remove the chrome yourself. He uses a chemcial bath to remove the chrome and you will lose parent material if you clean off some of the chrome yourself.

I paid $90 to get about 21 or so parts rechromed and he brazed one of the fittings back togehter. I have been very happy with the results thus far.

You will need to call his cell phone to talk with him.

if you have a problem getting up with him and if you pay shipping both ways, I can bring the parts to him. He is located about 20 minutes from my house.

I think his cell is
252-671-2151. He will talk your ear off too.

I really don't see how he is making any money at the price he charges.

Right now it is pending payment with a full price offer. I already received a 10% deposit and the rest is suppose to be in the mail.

I don't want to sell, but I have to be realistic.

Forgot to mention, the guy won't rechrome any pot metal. It is just too hard to get completely clean.

I will be glad when the whole deal is over.
