BW chrome plated brass on the norman pins and pretty much all other things like rail fittings and things like that. They actually used a very high quality of chrome plating that was the same type Harley Davidson used. That is why they lasted so long. It is up to you, I personally got the stainless, but if you rechrome it, it will last a long time if done right. 1984 Montauk

I have a '74 hull and even though I've refurbished my boat, my intention was to never bring it back to "factory". My pin is original, it works, and it looks cool. Member Personal Page Posts: 118 Comments: 0 Joined: 03/15/11	Older pins are either bronze or brass (I'm thinking it's bronze). Even the threaded rod that connects the two pieces are made from the same material. No chrome plating. Don't know when they changed to chrome or stainless.
