Looking for a really great shop to complete a restoration on a 1976 15 Sport. I am located in the Houma area just southwest of New Orleans. Anyone know a good fiberglass repair / restoration shops around?

Yes I have had minor repair work done there. I think he does good quality work. I have seen much larger jobs at his place over the years. What type of restoration are you looking at ? inside and out regelcoating ?

I have used him to patch the bolt holes on my Outrage. Just did this in March 2011. He had about 6-7 Boston Whalers in his yard. He does very good work and seem to be meticulous. He seemed to charge me a fair price too.

I dropped my boat off to him on Jan 25, 2011 and went over with him again of what i wanted done. We are now in May 2011 and still nothing. I have been going and checking on it around once a month and he says that he should get to it soon. Not sure why he is taking so long. I know it is a lot of work but I really don't know anywhere else to bring the hull too and get good quality work done. Has anyone else run into this problem with this Repair Shop?????

Neil,
Sorry to here about that ! I pass in front of his place weekly and there seems to be no shortage of boats at his shop. I personally don't have experience with any other shops. If you go somewhere else I would make darn sure there are good references about the shops work. You project sounds quite extensive , and i would not trust it to just any shop. Do you have any pictures ? Just currious, how long did he say it would take once he got started ?

Neil,
There is a place in Lafayette that repaired my friend's 23 Conquest, he ran over a submerged piling after the hurricanes and ripped the bottom. I could not tell that any repairs were done, it looked factory fresh, and they knew how to repair a Unibond hull. They are not listed in the phone book and I don't remember the name but will get you contact info if you want it. They are on W Evergreen street behind Northgate Mall on Evangeline Thruway.

neil, seems to me there is a guy in the Houston area that works boats. I know thats a bit of a hike from N.O., but sounds like you may be up to the drive if he is timely and reputable. If your interested, let me know and i'll do some research.

Todd,
I don't have any pictures with me now I am out of town on business, but will send you some when I return. I would really like for him to complete the work but i don't know if I can wait much longer. He said once he got started It would take at the most two to three weeks.
Tmann45,
Let me know what you find out. Really appreciate the help.

That would Joe Orlando, Orlando's Fiberglass. Joe is the Whaler Man around here in H-town. Not cheap, but does good work and does it right. I had some minor work done on my 18, and have had several buddies that had him do everything from electrical to rails to fiberglass work. He has lots of hard to find parts for classic Whalers as well.

If you are going to drive all the way to the Kemah, Texas area, where Orlando's is located, you should stop by Angel's Marine. He is about 5 miles from Joe's shop and Angel's also specializes in Whaler repair and restoration. I,m sure he would quote you over the phone, he can be reached @ 281-250-7383. Angel picked up the guys from Tops n Towers when they went out of business and now has a full custom aluminum fabrication shop on site as well.

Didn't know Angel ended up with Tops and Towers. I agree, another good resource for Whaler work.
