I have a 98 15' Dauntless and have seen some that came from the dealer with a seat across the back that would seat two.. Anyone know if this feature can still be purchased ?

An inquirrey to your nearest dealer or at Twinn-Cities marine would be able to tell you that.

As mentioned above, call Sue at Twin Cities Marine.
If she can't get it, then no one can unless you find one used.

Hello Neebishisland and happy new year. The rear seat you are refering to in a Dauntless 15 is really a casting deck/platform which was part of the Sportman pkg.
The Sportman pkg. was a B/W option for our Dauntless 15's ('94 thru '98) which gave the weekend angler a few different deck accessory choices.
What some owners have done including myself is have a nice custom cushion made for this area. I have not come across a used casting deck yet but, that doesn't mean one might not turn up for you.
Check with Sue Lodal at Twin Cities Marine she might be able to help.
Good luck with your search...

Dauntless-Miami: Thanks for naming the stern platform as "sportsman package". That should be fun to research and find. The Moeller 20 gallon changeout gallery of pics is impressive. Nice to have the various input as I scout for some ideas and upgrades. Cheers, John Portland, OR

Glad to provide the pic's (with alot of help from Mr. Kriz).

Jakennedy contact Sue Lodal @ Twin Cities Marine, She may have old Dauntless 15 Brochure info depicting the Sportman Pkg for your viewing. She is an incredible wealth of knowledge regarding B/W'er and a wonderful person to boot.

Check instead in 2 of my Project Albums for a few glimpses of my casting deck and how it attaches to the hull and splash well. A couple of views are where I am installing the water separator (Moeller install) additional views are where I am re-installing the black splash well cover (Trim tab Repair).

Jakennedy, check in Craigs List, ebay and other on-line resources for finding the platform as well as right here in W/C. You might get lucky.

It might not be a bad idea to run this design by one of our members who happens to own Nautical Lumber for his input on a teak set-up. Just a suggestion...

Good luck with the research and I'll keep a look out for a casting deck for you.

Thanks much. Not a must have but fun to see your great boats and comfort and or fishing additions. What is the best features of having that Dauntless stern deck? If I can find one from Sue or elsewhere it would be nice to know from you guys why it's worth the efforts/cost. Just going on gut instinct now...

I dig that Nautical Lumber expertise but doubt I will retrofit for teak. Maybe in 15 years when I give the kids my Dauntless and take on a project boat for fun.

I have another idea which is to add a nav bow light chock combo to my boat. They are expensive but miss having a protected chock and for kid duty on anchor retrieval. Chuck Bennett mentioned the install to me and yikes I am timid to start a drilling the bolts and brackets needed. Not even sure if the Montauk nav bow light/chock will lay well on the Dauntless bow...and maybe too much to risk and cost for the upside. Maybe we will see one of these down the road.

Thanks again & Cheers, John

Hello again Jakennedy and with regards to my Dauntless 15, the rear seating arrangement was the buying point for me (actually it was my wife who really fancy'ed it).

The casting deck offers some additional covered storage which comes in handy. My wife and daughter loves this area for sun tanning. It makes for a great staging area when prepping for snorkeling or diving because you can sit on it and your feet with fins can rest on the swim platform.
The same applies when I'm ready to exit the water, I have a place to lay my gear while held to the swim ladder.

For my fishing needs I installed 2 - 90degree flush mount stainless steel rod holders towards the outer corners. I can use them for trolling or rod storage to free my hands.

I contacted Mike Stennett (Nautical Lumber fame) for his input on the possibility of reproducing a casting deck for the Dauntless 15. Yes it will probably be out of teak (I did gather you weren't to keen on the wood idea from your post). It's just an idea for now.

For my needs I am glad my Dauntless came with the casting deck. Hope this helps, see ya...
